Job Summary

Position Summary The Program Leader I is responsible for leading a classroom of up to 20 students, ensuring their safety, and delivering engaging, high-quality programming. Program areas may include sports, STEM, coding, nutrition, outdoor education, and creative arts.

Requirements / Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities Facilitate project-based learning to support student development. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment in both classroom and outdoor settings. Set and reinforce clear behavioral expectations using positive discipline strategies. Ensure all students feel known, accepted, valued, and respected. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families to build trust. Model and uphold ProYouth’s mission and values through professional conduct and appearance. Supervise students in various settings (e.g., classroom, playground, library) to ensure safety and program compliance. Collaborate with the Site Director and team to plan and deliver engaging, well-organized activities. Address concerns and challenges promptly with the appropriate supervisor. Build positive, professional relationships with coworkers, school staff, and families. Participate in staff meetings, site trainings, and professional development opportunities. Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a team-oriented mindset. Complete assigned tasks accurately and on time. Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of training and responsibilities.

Education and Experience Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent, and one of the following: Completion of 48 college semester units, or Valid NCLB Paraprofessional Certification. At least two years of experience working with youth (preferred).

General Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age. Must pass DOJ/FBI background check. Must provide TB clearance. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License. Must provide proof of adequate auto insurance and be listed as an insured driver.
