A Tile Layer performs journey-level ceramic and clay tile, marble, and refractory ceramic material installation and repair work in connection with the maintenance and alteration of buildings, grounds, and equipment. The core duties below will require that a job incumbent: • Repairs tile and marble flooring, walls, walks, drains, fountains, swimming pool areas, and components of gas and electric kilns. • Installs tile and marble according to specified designs and shapes. • Cuts and polishes hard tile and marble. • Patches plaster and cement work in connection with tile and marble jobs. • Mixes mortar used for setting tile and marble. • Cleans tile and marble surfaces.
