The Lyle School District is a K-12 district located in the Columbia River Gorge serving about 185 students in Klickitat County, WA.

General Responsibilities:

Lyle School District is searching for a dedicated and enthusiastic K-12 Art Teacher to join our vibrant school team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of education principles and a passion for creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment. Responsibilities include developing and implementing engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards, fostering a positive classroom culture, assessing student progress, and collaborating with parents and colleagues. 

Terms of Employment:

Teacher pay scale currently (2025-2026 school year) ranges from $56,055 - $105,654 annually based on education and experience.

Full benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, Department of Retirement Systems retirement and other optional benefits. Other extracurricular roles and pay stipends may also be available. Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

  1. The role requires the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students across a wide range of academic levels. 
  2. Develop lesson plans and teaching outlines using Washington State K-12 Arts Learning Standards.
  3. Teach using a variety of methodologies, including inquiry, demonstrations, discussions and technology/laboratory experiences.
  4. Plan, develop, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students from varied socio-economic backgrounds who possess a range of mental and emotional maturity.
  5. Provide group and individual instruction to motivate students and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities.
  6. Prepare, administer, score, record and report student growth data.
  7. Counsel, confer with, and communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding pupil progress.
  8. Monitor children's interactions and nurture cooperation and team building.
  9. Collaborate with all school staff members.
  10. Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulations.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree.
  2. Teaching Degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Art or related endorsement(s).
  2. Prior teaching experience.
