Job Summary

La Cañada Unified School District is seeking a part-time Spanish teacher to teach two periods of Spanish 1 at La Cañada High School. These periods would be the last periods of the day, approximately 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. A temporary contract would be offered that covers the 2025-26 school year.

Requirements / Qualifications

Qualifications: 1. Credential: Valid California Single Subject Credential in Spanish, with authorization to teach English Language Learner students. 2. Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher. Master’s degree or higher degree is desirable. Work Year: This is a part-time position (0.4 FTE or 40%), mid-August through early June (10 months) with 188 contracted workdays. Students are on campus Thursday, August 14, 2025 through Thursday, June 4, 2026, with teachers working one extra day on Friday, June 5, 2026. School is in session 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. with a block schedule on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The chosen candidate will be asked to start immediately in the position, once clearances from a fingerprinting background check and tuberculosis assessment are confirmed. Salary: Placement on the certificated salary schedule is dependent on education and years of employment in a public school district. No cap on years for public school experience. The starting annual salary range for a fully credentialed teacher at 40% is $26,482 to $50,886, which corresponds to $2,407.50 to $4,626.04 per month. Teachers are paid in 11 monthly installments on the last day of the month, August through June. Benefits: This position is not eligible to participate in the District’s medical benefits. If not already a member, the new employee will be offered the opportunity to enroll in the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS).
