Under the supervision of the Principal / Assistant Principal, or his or her designee, assumes responsibility for the safety and welfare of children under their charge while students are in the lunch area, hallways, playground, and while students are on their way to and from class and school activities.

Work Year:       10 months

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Under the supervision of the Principal / Assistant Principal, or his or her designee.  Assumes responsibility for the safety and welfare of children under their charge while students are in the lunch area, hallways, playground, and while students are on their way to and from class and school activities.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: 

May perform any combination of the following:

?     Clean tops and seating areas of lunch tables and counters

?     Keep debris off floor and under lunch tables

?     Wipe up spills in lunch area

?     Tie off and take out trash bags and leave for custodians in lunch areas only

?     Check in and check out playground equipment

?     Maintain discipline and control of students while in lines, in the eating areas, hallways, and playground.

?     Report any unsafe conditions to Principal / Assistant Principal.

?     Maintain visible contact with students on playgrounds to ensure safety and to maintain order.

?     Other related duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

?     High school diploma or equivalent

?     Effective communication skills along with the ability to relate to student and parents with a multi-cultural background.

?     Current First Aid and CPR certifications

?     Offer of employment contingent upon satisfactory completion of pre-placement medical exam, including drug testing and fingerprint clearance.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

?     Ability to supervise students in order to maintain appropriate safety and order.

?     Ability to follow oral and written instructions and directions.
