THE POSITION: As part of the California Center for Inclusive College (CCIC) grant project, the Senior Program Specialist will work within the Division of Special Education to assist colleges and universities within Los Angeles County and statewide to expand, develop, and implement inclusive college programs. Under the direction of the Director III, Special Education, and the Project Director II, the Senior Program Specialist will provide technical, specialized, consultative, advisory, and planning services related to the expansion and development of inclusive college programs. The Senior Program Specialist will act as a resource specialist to professional and technical personnel in the specified programs; facilitate programs; assess and determine program needs; implement program objectives; serve as a liaison with other agencies; and conduct training. The position requires specialized subject matter expertise in education and significant, directly related experience. Knowledge is applied to analytical problem solving, usually under prescribed and widely used principles and concepts. The Senior Program Specialist will help plan, organize, and deliver professional development related to systems change and transition planning. The Senior Program Specialist also will help organize and plan advisory workgroup meetings. They will be required to provide both in-person and remote support to educators and administrators across Los Angeles County and the state. The position will also require some travel. This position is funded through the CCIC grant.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Education: Master’s in Education or a related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. Experience: - Five or more years of teaching in special education. Experience working with students who are eligible for special education services. -Experience with inclusion practices. -Experience with best practices in training and/or coaching adults. - Experience working as an academic coach, teacher on special assignment, or in an “out of classroom position” is preferred. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (Must attach a detailed certification/credential with document number to application. Internal and external applicants, please provide a copy of each credential document as it appears on the California Teaching Credential website with the document number on it.): - Must possess and maintain a valid Special Education Credential with an Autism authorization and CLAD.
