The Aftercare Supervisors, under the direction of the Aftercare Lead, strive to contribute to the overall mission of the school to create an environment that both promotes imaginative, creative play and provides an emotionally safe environment for our students. Aftercare Supervisors help facilitate play; lead craft projects; prepare, serve, and clean up snacks; support groups of students with academic work; promote social development skills; and perform clerical tasks. Above all else, Aftercare Supervisors oversee and monitor the behavior and well-being of students during after school hours. Job expectations include: • Uphold an understanding, patient, receptive attitude toward students and colleagues of varied age groups and varied abilities • Assist colleagues in carrying out programming. Provide proactive and meaningful interactions with students including giving academic support, leading crafting activities, and participating in play • Assist with general school duties, including recess supervision and traffic monitoring • Perform office tasks and clerical work such as answering the phone, shredding papers, filing, organizing, and daily light cleaning • Supervise students during structured and unstructured play times, and uphold school rules • Facilitate conflict resolution between students and complete appropriate documentation, including Incident Reports

Ocean Charter School, a Public Waldorf Charter School located in Del Rey is looking for an experienced Aftercare Supervisor to monitor students, assist in conflict resolution during outdoor play, snack time, and indoor activities.  Prior teaching experience is preferred.  Effective communication with parents and colleagues, and organization is an absolute necessity.

Applicants MUST have prior experience working with children in TK-8th grade as well as special needs students in this age range.  The Aftercare Supervisor position requires high-level communication and management skills with the ability to successfully assist children with conflict resolution.  In addition, the position requires lots of physical activity, including tidying, running, jumping, skipping, bending, and the possibility of lifting upwards of 75 pounds.  The position also requires organization with sign-in/out sheets, emergency information, and other related paperwork. 

The hours are 1:45pm on M, T, Th, F and 11:45am on W.   Supervisors are needed in the late afternoon/evenings until approximately 5:00-6:00pm.  Applicants must be reliable and punctual, have experience with conflict resolution, special needs students and have high level communication and management skills.
