We are hiring in-person tutors for the 2025-26 school year in the Monrovia Unified School District! Monrovia Unified School District is hiring tutors to assist students and ensure academic success in multiple grade levels, content areas, and programs. Our tutors cover a wide range of K-12 learners. They are passionate about helping students learn, modeling successful study habits and mindsets, and understand the value of being a lifelong learner. Former AVID Tutors and AVID Students are encouraged to apply. Subject Areas Grades K-5: Math; Language Arts/Reading; Science; Social Studies Grades 6-8: Math; English/Reading; Science; History; AVID 7/AVID 8* (Tutorials) Grades 9-12 Courses: AVID 9 English (College Prep), English (Honors/AP); AVID 10 Social Science (College Prep), Social Science (Honors/AP), World Languages (Electives); AVID 11 Math (College Prep), Math (Honors/AP); AVID 12 Science (College Prep), Science (Honors/AP) AVID Tutors have the ability to guide students toward academic and personal excellence that will reach far beyond their high school years. As an AVID tutor, you are an active participant in the learning, growth, and personal development of students, acting as a role-model to future college-bound students. As an AVID tutor, you are making a commitment to: • Participate in AVID tutorial trainings that underscore the principle of collaborative learning and the practice of students teaching other students through discussion of class and text notes. • Determine from student tutorial worksheets, notes, and discussions the concepts that need to be the focus of tutorial sessions. • Work with students in any phase of the writing process, such as brainstorming, clustering, read rounds, revision and editing. • Allow students to shoulder the responsibility for their own active learning while guiding them with strategies that they will become accustomed to using independently. • Reinforce the idea that learning extends far

***THIS IS A LIMITED-TERM POSITION ONLY*** • Must be a college student, at least 18 years of age • Must have a strong Math and English background • Attend online AVID training to understand tutorials • Answer all questions completely and accurately. Failure to fully complete the application may result in disqualification. Candidates are required to provide detailed information on the application as specified.
