General Responsibilities

Skamania School District is recruiting for a Middle School Classroom & STEAM Resource Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. This position entails two primary roles within the Skamania School District. Firstly, as the half-time Resource teacher, responsibilities include implementing a comprehensive STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) program for K-8 students, facilitating instruction for highly capable students, and working with targeted intervention groups. Secondly, as a half-time Middle School Teacher, the role involves providing full-time classroom teaching in a middle school (7-8) math and science classroom, focusing on establishing a safe and positive learning environment while delivering rigorous and engaging instruction.
Salary:
The full salary range is $56,170 - $105,870.
Assignment:
This is a 1.0 FTE. -
Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:
STEAM Resource Teacher Duties- Delivering high quality instruction through project-based learning methods.
- Attending professional development and training related to STEAM, highly capable, and intervention programs and methodologies to stay abreast of current research.
- Employing a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments to guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
- Using technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
- Working directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new initiatives and curriculum.
- Organizing, developing, and coordinating special STEAM events/activities.
- Coaching teachers on STEAM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEAM areas.
- Designing and implementing curriculum and instructional strategies that are differentiated to support the advanced learning needs of gifted students.
- Providing intervention and support for students who require additional academic assistance, including targeted instruction and remediation.
- Establishing and clarifying acceptable standards for student behavior and demonstrating effective classroom management skills.
- Monitoring students in various educational environments to provide a safe and positive learning environment, handling social/emotional issues as they arise.
- Providing direct instruction to students in a regular classroom.
- Motivating and communicating with students from varied educational and cultural backgrounds.
- Incorporating relevant, rigorous, and challenging learning activities in daily lessons.
- Differentiating instruction based on student level.
- Attending and contributing to staff meetings, training, and IEP/504 meetings.
- Collaborating with other staff members in planning district curriculum and instructional methods, goals, and objectives.
- Maintaining a cooperative attitude with leadership, staff, parents, and students.
- Actively participating in the MTSS process.
Other Functions:- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS or higher degree with a major in one of the following areas: Elementary Education, Mathematics, Science, Curriculum, or a STEAM-related field.
- Hold or be eligible to hold a Washington State Teaching License, Emergency Substitute or Conditional Teaching license.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:- Hold and maintain an appropriate license and endorsement(s) from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Washington.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects, and State Instructional Standards.
