ROLE SUMMARY The Marching Band coach participates in various aspects of creating a high-caliber music ensemble and field show production, while supporting the education of students. The Marching Band coach will be tasked with instructing students in the various performance aspects of a marching season, and will assist in achieving the field production vision set by the Instrumental Music Director via specified roles, which can include, but not limited to, music sectionals, visual rehearsals, ensemble rehearsals, choreography, etc. The Marching Band coach will work with student musicians and performers to achieve the vision of the field show, while instructing/demonstrating to the students proper techniques and skills needed to achieve the creation of the field production and quality performances. The Marching Band coach will help ensure the department's mission/vision statement is met. KNOWLEDGE Techniques used in guiding, motivating and supervising students; Skills utilized to maintain positive relationships with students and other adults; school rules and regulations. Knowledge of pageantry production standards. Knowledge of fundamental visual and/or instrumental performance skills. Advanced level knowledge of specific pedagogy to section assigned (e.g. drumline, front ensemble, color guard, winds). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: -Scheduling: Responsible for adhering to assigned instructional days provided by the Instrumental Music Director. Assists with the creation of a timeline of task completion. Independent work may be required to achieve field production vision. -Fiscal: Request for all expenses are to be coordinated with and approved by the Instrumental Music Director, and all expenditures must be reimbursed through CV Music Boosters. -Meeting & Rules: Marching Band coaches must be available for instructional staff meetings.
