Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of a school site administrator and District Nurse, the Health Technician provides support in meeting the health needs of students, documenting and maintaining student information required by federal, state, and local agencies, and providing appropriate care and/or referral for ill or injured students as may be required. Each of our 10 school sites is staffed with a Health Technician. When permanent employees are unable to work, a substitute is utilized.

Requirements / Qualifications

One year of clerical experience involving frequent contact with the public is required. CPR/First Aid Certification (CPR/First Aid certification: attach proof of valid First Aid and Adult CPR certification from an accredited organization such as the Red Cross or American Heart Association. Online First Aid certificates are acceptable, however, CPR must include "hands on" classroom training.

Examination process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examinations: Multiple choice test (weight: 20%) performance test (weight: 30%) and a Qualifications Appraisal Interview (weight: 50%). The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as Open/Promotional-Dual certification. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications are placed on an eligibility list. Selection interviews will be scheduled as candidates qualify until vacancies are filled. Veterans may be eligible for preference points on entrance examinations ("entrance" is defined as candidates who are not current employees of the District). Please attach a copy of your DD214 to your application. Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance. The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer. Management employees serve a probationary period of one year.
