Salary: $30-50/hour (depending on experience) Employment Type: Part-Time Location: Gualala, California Start Date: September 2025 Website: https://www.forager.school The Forager School is excited to bring world languages to life and is seeking a vibrant Spanish or Mandarin teacher to introduce early elementary students to the joys of language learning. We are looking for educators who can visit several times per week. Our ideal candidate is a fluent speaker who brings language to life through storytelling, music, games, and connection – aligned with our nature-based, child-led approach to learning. About The Program: The Forager School is a progressive microschool on California’s North Coast, rooted in experiential, inquiry-driven education. We believe children learn best when they are engaged in meaningful work, immersed in nature, and given the time and space to follow their curiosity. Language, art, and music are essential parts of our whole-child model, allowing students to explore identity, culture, and expression. Key Responsibilities: -- Lead engaging Spanish or Mandarin language sessions for early elementary children -- Create a playful and immersive learning environment through music, storytelling, movement, games, and real-world connection -- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language instruction into broader themes and projects when possible -- Develop consistent routines and rhythms for language exposure, appropriate to early elementary learners -- Observe and respond to students’ interests and needs; adapt plans as needed to support joyful learning -- Participate in occasional community events or celebrations where language and culture can be shared
Requirements / Qualifications
-- Fluent in Spanish or Mandarin, with clear pronunciation and conversational ease -- Able to commute to campus several times per week -- Experience teaching early elementary aged students -- Ability to design engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that center joy and cultural connection -- Enthusiasm for progressive education values and child-centered learning -- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass a background check upon hire
