Job Summary
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education, this individual will assess, develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) in the area of speech and language therapy for children with communicative handicaps. This will include making the necessary physical arrangements at each school site for program implementation, arrange suitable schedules for speech and language screening and therapy, and establish a record keeping system for maintaining student records in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: • Master’s Degree or higher in speech-language pathology • Degree program must be accredited by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association’s Council on Academic Accreditation. Credentials: • Language, Speech and Hearing Services Credential or • Language, Speech and Hearing and Audiology Credential, or • Language, Speech and Hearing including Special Class Authorization Credential, or • Language, Speech and Hearing and Audiology including Special Class Authorization Credential Experience: • One (1) year in professional speech and language therapy services (preferred.) • Experience with a variety of disorders and age ranges in order to facilitate assessment and coordination of results with family and professional staff. • Successful experience in monitoring compliance with legal regulations. Personal and Professional Qualifications: • Ability to relate positively to children and instill in them a desire to improve. • Ability to relate positively to parents. • Ability to work with supervisors, teachers and school personnel in a professional and efficient manner. • Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations. • Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal direction and supervision. • Knowledge of and willingness to stay abreast of current trends, innovations and practices in special education. • Must posses a privat

Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
