Job Summary

Job Purpose Statement: Under the general direction of the classroom teacher, the Instructional Support Specialist (ISS) assists the classroom teacher in all aspects of providing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to ensure student progress on IEP goals and overall care and welfare of students with extensive support needs. Under the direction of the teacher, the ISS provides training and support to new and substitute instructional assistants and substitute teachers to ensure instructional continuity.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Experience: Three years experience working in an educational environment strongly preferred. Prior experience working with students with disabilities is preferred. • Education: Successful completion of the EDCOE 40-hour ISS training and a passing score on the ISS exam/practicum. Candidates who have completed 40 hours of RBT training through another agency may submit their certificate of completion for consideration. If approved, only 10 hours of additional training will be required.
