OVERVIEW: The Coordinator of Student Services-Special Education assists in the effective planning, implementation and evaluation of the District's student services and programs for students with special needs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES (KSAs): (include but are not limited to the following) o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form o Ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures o Collaborative yet decisive in decision-making, seeking consensus whenever possible o Demonstrated knowledge of assessment and its relationship to curriculum and instruction o Demonstrated success and knowledge of software programs appropriate for the disaggregation of assessment data, with capacity to format assessment results in a variety of report formats o Effective interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and conflict resolution skills o Knowledgeable the laws and regulations, codes, policies and procedures relating to testing, assessment, and evaluation o Knowledgeable in current and emerging educational research as well as “best practice” o Knowledgeable of multiple measures of student achievement o Proficiency in a second language preferred
