Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: • Graduation from High School or equivalent • CPR/First Aid • Must meet NCLB/ESSA requirements for paraprofessionals working in Title I Schools to include: • Two years of college (48) units, OR • A.A. degree (or higher), OR • Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction • One year of experience working with elementary, middle or high school students in an organized setting OR • Any combination of education, training, and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties may be substituted for the required experience. Examples of other education, training and/or experience could include (but is not limited to): • Child development or education course work and/or associate’s degree in education or related field • Volunteer experience working with school age children • Other experience working with school age children
