THE POSITION Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Deputy Executive Director supports the Executive Director in setting strategic goals for the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) and the overall operation of administration and all programs and systems within the CCEE to ensure that actions and resource requirements are properly aligned in order to meet these goals. This position serves as a key leadership role overseeing the Statewide System of Support (SSOS), the Special Education Focus Area, and the Community Engagement Initiative. The role requires a deep understanding of all SSOS lead initiatives and their integration with statewide goals to improve educational outcomes for all students. The position also demands specialized knowledge of special education, particularly as it relates to the work of all special education leads and the integration of evidence-based practices to enhance services for students with disabilities. Familiarity with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworks is essential, ensuring effective coordination of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports. In addition, this role is responsible for supporting systemic school transformation efforts across state agencies, supporting Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) in building capacity to address persistent challenges, and fostering sustainable improvement for Students with Disabilities. The position also leads strategies to strengthen authentic community engagement, ensuring that families, students, and local stakeholders have meaningful opportunities to inform and shape educational practices and policies. Ultimately, this leadership position plays a critical part in integrating strategy, policy, and practice to accelerate learning and improve student outcomes in coordination and collaboration with statewide educational partners.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION: Master’s degree from an accredited college/university is required. Doctoral degree or other advanced degree desired. EXPERIENCE: At least ten years experience in education research, policy, and/or administration, with at least 5 years of management experience is desired.
