Job Summary
The job of a Behavior Specialist is to assess and support students displaying behavioral issues, collect data on the students, work with the site principal, teachers, and counselor, devise behavior intervention and support plans for students, and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan. They specialize in treating students with behavioral issues that impair learning and/or social functions. The Behavior Specialist should demonstrate excellent judgment, human relations, organizational skills, and time management skills. The Behavior Specialist should have the ability to independently prioritize and appropriate response to time-sensitive issues, and be skilled in handling difficult and often sensitive issues. The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: -Serve as the designee in the absence of the site principal -Support Behavior Support Team in implementing behavior plans within the assigned student. -Assist the site principal in scheduling special events during the school day; -Provide general supervision to students -Assist in the supervision of extracurricular activities; -Assist in the school-wide implementation of effective instructional strategies; -Assist the site principal in making the school facility an attractive, orderly, pleasant, productive place to learn and work; -Adheres to and enforces board policy, school guidelines, and administrative directives; -Assists the site principal with attendance and SARB procedures -Coordinate, facilitate, and monitors Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS); -Provide direct services to students, staff, and parents/guardians in order to provide support and learn appropriate behavior intervention techniques; -Provide positive ways for working successfully with students who have difficulties conforming to acceptable behavior patterns; -Provide services and behavior management plans for students;
Requirements / Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred California Teaching Credential (with five years minimum classroom experience) Administrative Service Credential desired, but not required (additional stipend of $8,000 per contract year) Certificates, Licenses, Clearances, Testing: Board Certified Behavior Certification is desired, but not required Valid California driver's license; Department of Justice and FBI Fingerprint Negative TB screening within 4 years
-Supervise the delivery of intensive and/or general behavior intervention services; -Conduct effective training in the area of behavior and/or intensive behavior intervention; -Explain complex behavioral intervention strategies in a clear and concise manner to family members, teachers, agency staff, and the public; -Understand and address the needs of students with various mental health diagnoses, developmental disabilities, and severe behavior problems; -Participate in training and meetings in a variety of settings; -Rapidly learn from training methods and techniques, and develop materials to be used in instruction and intensive behavioral intervention; -Performs other duties as assigned by the site principal -Attends student study team meetings upon request

-Read, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and policies;
-Obtain additional training in areas related to job function, knowledge, and/or abilities.
