Semitropic Elementary School District Cafeteria Worker Responsibilities and Duties The Cafeteria Worker is responsible for preparing and assisting in preparation daily of school breakfast and lunch. The Cafeteria Worker is responsible for, and assists in, preparation of and dishes, baking items, salads, deserts, sandwiches, and other foods. Responsible for, and assists in, setting up serving counter and service of all meals. Helps with daily cleaning of kitchen, equipment, and utensils; assists in proper storage of food and supplies; following proper sanitation procedures related to food preparation. Works with custodial and maintenance staff in operation of kitchen and equipment. Performs other related as assigned by Director of Nutrition Services. Attends training and inservice sessions as required. Requirements Knowledge of : Proper methods of preparing, cooking, baking and serving food. Cafeteria accounting procedures and routing forms and reports related to cafeteria collection procedures Safe use of operation and care of a variety of food service equipment and appliances. Proper food service sanitation and safety requirements. Safe use of hazardous materials. Proper food storage procedures. Ability to: Read, write and follow oral and written directions. Follow standardized recipes. Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the assigned duties. Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. Experience: Twelve (12) months experience in school food production and nutrition. Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. Successful completion of Safety and Sanitation required. Other job specific classes preferred.
