
INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE-EARLY CHILDHOOD at Covina-Valley Unified School District
Requirements / Qualifications
The Vacancy: There are several, part – time, (3.75 - 5.5 hours a day), school year, permanent positions at Elementary School and Children Center sites. Positions are for the infant and preschool special education programs and Transitional Kindergarten Programs. This recruitment will also be used to develop an eligibility list to fill future part-time vacancies and substitute/temporary positions in this classification for up to six months. The Position: Under immediate supervision, assist the site supervisor and classroom teacher in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities for children ages twelve months through six years old. Positions in this class are established principally to assist teachers in the care and supervision of children in the District’s infant, preschool special education programs, and school site Transitional Kindergarten (TK) programs. It is distinguished from the Instructional Aide position in that the primary responsibility is to assist in the general care, supervision, and instruction for the whole child whereas Instructional Aides are primarily responsible to assist in formal instruction.
Required Qualifications: Must have a current CPR and First Aid certification prior to starting the assignment and always maintain current, the equivalent of graduation from high school and either completion of at least two years of study (48-semester units or 60 quarter units) at an institution of higher education or attainment of an Associate of Arts degree or higher, and A valid California Driver’s License or state issued identification. Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of a written exam and a qualifications appraisal interview (each weighted 50%). The following must be submitted with the application:

- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Letter of Introduction
- Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three, no older than a year, signed and dated)
- Proof of HS Graduation
- Resume
