Job Description – Certificated Teacher SDC-SH

Responsible to: Principal

The governing board establishes the following teaching criteria for all SDC Teachers working in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

Instructional:

1. Uses effective teaching techniques.
2. Adheres to IEP recommendations as Course of Study for student.
3. Adheres to District homework policy.
4. Achieves positive teacher/pupil relations.
5. Generates enthusiasm for learning.
6. Achieves on task student behavior.
7. Moves students through curriculum based on mastery.
8. Provides instruction on an individual or small group basis as needed or specified in the pupil’s individual education plan.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Student Management:

1. Monitor pupil progress using the goals and objectives of the IEP.
2. Creates classroom environment reflective of curriculum.
3. Maintains up-to-date student records.
4. Utilizes effective discipline techniques.
5. Meets deadlines.
6. Communicates students problems to parents and makes recommendations.
7. Follows District promotion policy.
8. Maintains classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
9. Maintains clear lesson plans including homework assignments.
10. Supports students in social skills development in classroom, at recess, and other activities.
11. Participates as member of the appropriate assessment team in coordinating or performing the needed academic assessment required to determine the pupil’s education needs and placement.
12. Keeps student Individual Education Plan (IEP) files current.
13. Assures that due process procedures are followed.
14. Prepares a monthly attendance register.
15. Is involved n the evaluation and revision of the individual education (IEP).

Professional:

1. Achieves effective teacher/parent relations.
2. Has positive staff relations.
3. Performs adjunct duties as assigned.
4. Promotes a positive image of public education.
5. Participates in school functions.
6. Continues planned professional self-improvement.
7. Serves on District and school committees.
8. Follows District and school policies.
9. Works in conjunction with other support staff when working with students.

1. Instructional Aides

Required Qualifications:

Credentials and Experience:
1. Valid California teaching credential.
2. Valid California driver’s license.
3. Valid TB Certificate
4. Physical Examination Required

Physical Requirements

Medical Category I:
(Light physical effort)
1. Position requires no extraordinary physical strength or qualifications.
2. Work assignments are normally located in a work environment with no unusual physical requirements or environmental conditions; requires only light physical function.
3. Position requires lifting 25 pounds maximum or carrying any object weighing 15 pounds.

Other:
1. Work year - 182 day
2. Master’s degree adds 5% of step 1 to salary.
3. Benefits at Certificated level.

Must show proof of a Valid California Education Specialist Credential in Mild/Moderate Support Needs (Mild/Moderate) with ASD and CLAD (or other EL authorization) Submit the following with a completed Edjoin application. 1. Resume 2. 3 Current & signed letters of recommendation 3. CBEST verification, if not fully credentialed 4. Copy of Unofficial or Official Transcripts 5. Copy of Credential or Letter from College with the anticipated completion date, if applicable 6. Letter of Interest 7. Proof of CLAD or other EL Authorization, if not on your credential *Current Employees only need to apply with a letter of interest*

The District shall provide an annual contribution for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance. If the selected health and welfare coverage costs less than the district's maximum contribution, the employee may select to cash out the difference in cost. Family Plan = $7,210 annually Single OR Employee +1 = $6,458.00 annually The Fringe Benefit contribution amount is NOT included in the annual salary indicated on the certificated salary schedule.
