Position Description

 

The Custodian, under general supervision, performs routine custodial work inside and outside of school and office buildings and keeps building areas in a clean, sanitary and safe condition.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License or California I.D.
  • Must possess one year of experience comparable to that of a custodian in a school district
  • English fluency

 

Education/Experience

 

High school diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience.  Experience in custodial work.

 

Skills/Abilities

 

  • Use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency
  • Understand and follow verbal and written directions in English
  • Communicate verbally in English
  • Adjust work schedules to meet unusual conditions

  • Performs minor maintenance, regular custodial and routine gardening work as needed
  • Maintains storage area for equipment, materials and supplies
  • Carries out directions of immediate supervisor
  • Sweeps concrete, scrubs linoleum and tile, waxes and polishes linoleum, tile and wood floors
  • Cleans and dusts walls, furniture, woodwork, hall lockers and other equipment
  • Washes, scrubs and disinfects rest rooms and shower rooms
  • Cleans windows, door glass and drinking fountains
  • Cleans and polishes metal work such as door panels and hand railings
  • Collects trash; empties and cleans waste containers
  • Moves or rearranges chairs, tables, desks, furniture and other equipment ?        Replaces light globes
