Job Summary
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services or designee, the Adult Education Teacher is responsible for teaching adult education courses, including evening and/or weekend courses, as needed such as: ESL levels 1, 2 & 3; Computer Literacy, Citizenship Preparation and tutoring adults enrolled in the diploma program subject matter courses. Further, this position ensures implementation, administration and compliance of any pathway grants - currently - the ELL Healthcare Pathways grant, which aims to provide English Language Learners (ELL) with career-focused educational opportunities in the healthcare sector and supports the Adult Education Coordinator in general implementation of the MCOE Adult Education Program.
Requirements / Qualifications
Possession of a valid California Teaching Credential and English Learning certificate authorization. Experience with alternative education high school students preferred.

Full-time 7 hour per day position with benefits. This position provides instructional programs for community school students (grades 9-12) in a self-contained classroom. Due to a wide range in the educational aptitude and learning abilities of the students, direct instruction will require that emphasis be placed on the diagnostic-prescriptive approach. Placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule for this position will depend on applicant’s previous experience and units. An additional $2,000 will be paid for Masters. Employer pays pro-rata portion for employee and dependents of medical (includes prescription), dental, and vision insurance, with co-pay amount paid by employee. Life insurance for employee only.
