Job Summary
Under the direction of Director of Transportation or designee, a Van Driver transports passengers to and from schools, offices, and other locations as scheduled in a District van or district approved vehicle with up to nine passengers. The Van Driver classification is the entry level class in the Transportation Services Division. This classification is distinguished from other classifications in Transportation Services by the vehicle size, number of passengers transported, and qualifications and clearances required, as compared to Bus Driver.

Job Requirements - Qualifications: EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Six months of paid experience operating a motor vehicle is strongly desired. Experience driving a passenger van is preferable. Required Skills: • Operate school van or district approved vehicles in a safe manner • Communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written forms • Evaluate schedules and meet deadlines • Plan and organize activities • Administer first aid • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy with students, administration, and staff • Exhibit appropriate customer service Ability to: • Drive a multi-passenger van or district approved vehicle safely and efficiently in heavy congested traffic in accordance with the requirements of transportation schedules and traffic laws. • Promote and maintain passenger safety and proper behavior in a van or district approved vehicle. • Act quickly and appropriately in emergencies. • Administer First Aid and CPR as needed. • Work effectively with parents, students and District personnel. • Operate a two-way radio • Meet schedules and deadlines. • Utilize and understand navigation tools LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, BONDING AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED: • A satisfactory driving record as obtained from the California Department of Motor Vehicles. • A valid Class A, B or C license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and remain insurable at the district's standard insurance market rule. • a valid First Aid card or certificate, issued by an authorized agency, and must be obtained within the first 60 days a Iler appointment and kept valid during the term of employment. • Post employment random drug screen testing. as currently required under DOT regulations, to maintain California Driver's License through District's provider at District's expense. • Pre-employment physical exam through District's provider at District's expense
