Job Description Summary: After school Daycare Workers nurture and care for children in after-school situations. These workers play an important role in a child's development by caring for the child when parents are at work. They are important members of our school staff and community. After school staff help guide children through homework as needed, always encouraging independence and problem-solving skills. In addition, they organize activities that stimulate children's physical, emotional, intellectual, creative and social growth and make sure that all environments inside and out are clean and safe. Tasks: • Arrange and maintain a safe, clean, healthy, welcoming classroom and outdoor environment conducive to program goals and student well-being in accordance with school philosophy • Arrange, organize or provide for engaging activities that further learning, creativity, physical skills and cooperative, kind social relationships • Continually move around and through the classroom or outside play area • Make sure that students use buddy system when using restroom or delivering a message • Report all accidents or incidents between children to supervisor • Maintain accurate sign-in and sign-out records • Maintain accident reports and give to supervisor • Maintain confidentiality • Maintain professionalism • Maintain daily open communication with parents • Provide pertinent information about students or parents to supervisor or co-worker(s) when appropriate • Become familiar with the school rules and enforce them • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with co-workers, and maintain them over time. • Report any suspected abuse to the Principal • Report any broken or lost materials and equipment to the Daycare Supervisor • Refrain from using any electronic device for texting, phone calls or emails during work hours. • Attend Daycare Staff meetings and trainings
