DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION, AND ASSESSMENT – K-12
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Support Services, provides leadership in the District's K-12 curriculum development, instructional strategies and assessments.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Superintendent - Educational Support Services
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements the philosophy, goals and yearly priorities of the School District.
- Assists in yearly development of District goals for the areas of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Guides development, implementation and evaluation of in-service training programs for District certificated personnel.
- Works with schools to assist in site-level curriculum, instructional and assessment efforts.
- Supervise and evaluate site Principals.
- Provides staff development for new K-12 teachers and experienced teachers based upon District priorities and teacher needs.
- Provides leadership and mentoring in the training of administrative staff related to K-12 curriculum and instruction development and evaluation.
- Directs creation and publication of curriculum guides and materials prepared by District personnel for general distribution among instructional staff. Provides leadership and consultation to teacher work groups.
- Leads the District's K-12 assessment program by reviewing and evaluating results, as well as making recommendations based on those results, relative to the District wide instructional program.
- Facilitates monthly principal meetings.
- Coordinates the textbook ordering process K-12.
- Provides leadership and guidance to all District programs (e.g., TK, ELD, VAPA, Human Growth and Development, Counseling, P.E., etc.)
- Recommends new courses, the appropriate grade levels and materials for such courses, along with their effect upon graduation requirements.
- Insures that technology is integrated into District-wide curriculum and instruction.
- Evaluates the District’s K-12 Curriculum and Instruction employees.
- Represents the District at all regional meetings involving curriculum, instruction and special projects.
- Facilitates K-12 District-wide proficiency testing in grades K-12.
- Coordinates the A-G course lists and high school course catalogs.
- Maintains active membership in local, state and national professional organizations relevant to curriculum and instruction.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Support Services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid California Administration Credential
- Master's Degree, or higher, from an accredited institution
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 7 years successful experience in classroom teaching and site-level administration and previous District involvement in Curriculum and Instruction and/or Categorical/Special Programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
WORK YEAR: 225 Days
SALARY: Certificated Administrative Salary Schedule
