We are a private Christian preschool located in Modesto, CA. We serve students 2-5 years of age. Our school is learning based to prepare students to attend elementary school. It is our goal that all children have a sense of acceptance, significance, and well-being during their stay with us. We are seeking a caring and dependable Associate Teacher to join our faith-based early learning team. Under the guidance of the Lead Teacher and Director, the Associate Teacher helps implement a high-quality, developmentally appropriate program that nurtures the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of young children. This role plays a vital part in creating a warm, inclusive, and safe classroom environment rooted in Christian values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing classroom activities
  • Assist in guiding children’s behavior through positive reinforcement and modeling
  • Promote social-emotional growth and healthy peer relationships
  • Support daily routines including circle time, group learning, and meals
  • Assist with toileting and potty training, providing encouragement and support to promote independence and confidence in young children
  • Help supervise both indoor and outdoor playtime
  • Introduce and support healthy eating habits and hygiene practices
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness, safety, and organization
  • Operate classroom tools and materials safely and appropriately
  • Serve as a positive, encouraging role model to students and coworkers
  • Attend staff meetings and ongoing training
  • Step into a lead role when necessary
  • Respond to emergencies and participate in drills
  • Maintain punctuality, professional appearance, and consistent attendance

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • At least 12 core units in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
  • Minimum 3 units in infant/toddler development
  • 1 year experience in a licensed early learning setting

Certifications & Documentation

  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • LiveScan background check clearance
  • TB test and immunization records (MMR, Tdap, Flu)
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Official transcripts verifying ECE coursework
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Communication & Cultural Fit

  • Must speak and write English clearly and professionally
  • Able to support and represent a Christian/faith-based teaching environment
  • Comfortable working with diverse families in a respectful and inclusive manner

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with California licensing regulations for early education
  • Experience with classroom behavior guidance and structure
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
  • Proficient in teamwork, time management, and taking initiative

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to kneel, bend, sit on the floor, and lift children (up to 40 lbs)
  • Visual and hearing ability to supervise children and ensure safety
  • Frequent movement, including walking, running, standing, and transitioning between indoor and outdoor spaces
  • Dexterity for managing classroom tools and daily routines
