DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Provides an integrated educational program for each assigned student consisting of social, emotional, academic and psychomotor learning for students.  Assists in related programs and activities, and performs other school related duties as required or assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Duties may include, but not limited to the following:

 

  • Assesses student knowledge, attitude, skills, experience, modes of learning, and aspirations in order to provide relevant, integrated curriculum, and program. 
  • Provide daily English Language Development (ELD) instruction if required. Diagnose students, formulate long-range objectives for students, use appropriate lesson objectives for students, use skills sequencing within a subject area, and evaluate student progress. 
  • Possess current knowledge of subject matter, teach to an objective, apply principles of learning, monitor and correct student performance, and take advantage of professional growth. 
  • Be knowledgeable about and use the district's curricular objectives, use appropriate assessment procedures and appropriate instructional materials, and record student learning as related to district-expected student outcomes. 
  • Develop a positive classroom atmosphere, establish and maintain standards of behavior consistent with the district discipline policy, maintain an environment conducive to learning, and support on-task behavior. Maintain current and appropriate room displays including student work when and where appropriate. 
  • The teacher will supervise pupils, keep records and make reports as required. Hold parent conferences when required, requested or appropriate. Support district and school goals and objectives. Use discretion in communicating school matters. Be puncutal to class and duty assignments. 
  • Follow school district regulations and policies, and maintain appropriate appearance.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Incorporated within the essential functions of position are the essential physical requirements: Ability to see for purposes of observing students and reading instructional materials, tests, student records and other printed matter. Ability to understand speech at normal levels in person or on the telephone. Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation in person or on the telephone.  Feels comfortable using the computer, the iPad and a variety of apps, and LCD/audio equipment. Ability to occasionally lift/carry supplies and printed materials weighing up to 25 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Classroom working environment subject to bending, crouching, kneeling, and sitting on the floor to interact with students, pushing/pulling of equipment and reaching in all directions.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Multiple Subject or Appropriate Single Subject Teaching Credential. CLAD/EL Authorization required. Must be Highly Qualified.

Purpose: In recognition of the need to retain highly qualified educators and to address ongoing staffing challenges in hard-to-fill positions, the District and the Association agree to implement an incentive program. This program supports the professional growth of current employees while strengthening the pipeline of credentialed individuals in the following specialized areas: *Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) *Adaptive Physical Education Teacher *Education Specialist: Moderate/Severe *Education Specialist: Mild/Moderate Incentive Terms: Employees shall be eligible for a retention incentive of ten-thousand dollars ($10,000) prorated by FTE during the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school year and paid two times per school year-December 2025 ($2,500), June 2026 ($2,500), December 2026 ($2,500), and June 2027 ($2,500). The incentive is subject to the following conditions: 1. The employee must hold a preliminary or clear credential in one of the areas listed above. 2. The employee must be assigned to and actively working in a position aligned with that credential within the District for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. 3. The employee must have completed or be on-track to complete at least 90% of their assigned workdays for the school year at the time the stipends are issued. Completed work is defined as being in paid status and receiving STRS credit. If the employee completes fewer than 90% of their workdays in a school year, the incentive may receive prorated payment(s) at the discretion of the District. 4. The payments will be made in December 2025 ($2,500), June 2026 ($2,500), December 2026 ($2,500), and June 2027 ($2,500). Repayment Clause: If an eligible employee voluntarily resigns, moves into a different role that is not outlined in this MOU, or separates from the District prior to completing 90% of their assigned workdays, they shall not be entitled to the incentive, unless otherwise waived by mutual agreement between the District and the Association. This MOU shall expire on June 30, 2027, unless extended by mutual written agreement. Nothing in this Memorandum of Understanding shall be construed as precedent setting or as establishing a past practice. This agreement is made on a non-precedent basis and shall apply only to the specific circumstances described herein.
