Under the direction of a High School Assistant Principal, the ASB Accounting Assistant performs specialized accounting and financial record-keeping duties to assure sound fiscal management of student body funds; collects monies pertaining to student functions; provides work direction and guidance to student assistants.

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by course work in accounting and at least three years of clerical work including at least one year financial record-keeping experience. Experience in school district accounting is desirable.
Knowledge and Abilities
Basic bookkeeping and financial record-keeping terminology, methods and practices; inventory methods and procedures; modern office practices, procedures, equipment and software, including Microsoft Excel and Word; record-keeping techniques; correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; oral and written communication skills; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Representative Duties
Perform specialized accounting and financial record-keeping duties to assure sound fiscal management of student body funds; collect monies pertaining to student functions including club accounts, ASB funds, athletic events, student activities, shop, transportation and a variety of other fees; count and record monies into proper accounts; prepare bank deposits as required; provide work direction and guidance to student assistants; oversee students recording ticket sales, prepare receipts, make bank deposits, and collect and record various monies to assure compliance with established procedures; order special fund supplies as necessary; assist teachers in accounting procedures for special events, arrange sales and assist in organizing events; perform other clerical duties as assigned, in support of the ASB office.

Abilities: Perform specialized financial record-keeping duties to assure the sound fiscal managementof student body funds; collect monies pertaining to student functions; provide work direction and guidance to student assistants; operate standard office equipment including calculator, cash register, typewriter, computer and related software, including MS Excel at at least an intermediate skill level; make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately; understand and follow oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; maintain records and prepare reports; plan and organize work; work independently with little direction; type at an acceptable rate of speed.
