Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Education Services or designee the Mental Health Specialist serves as a vital resource for schools, families, and students. This role provides leadership and coordination to strengthen mental health interventions, services, and community outreach. The Mental Health Specialist delivers direct services, such as counseling, crisis and behavior intervention, and indirect services through consultation, training, and systems support. They support district-wide prevention, intervention, and postvention strategies; lead school-wide initiatives; provide professional development; and collaborate with community partners to promote student well-being. Additionally, they will support the development, implementation, and monitoring of mental health-related grants. Ongoing funding for this position is dependent on Medi-Cal billing.
