About the Employer
We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in quantity preparation of foods at the central kitchen or assigned school site; serve and transport food to students and staff according to established procedures; assist in maintaining food service facilities in a clean and sanitary condition. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Nutrition Services Assistant I-Driving classification is the entry-level position in the series. Incumbents perform basic and routine food service activities at the central kitchen or assigned school site and deliver food to various programs within the district as assigned. Nutrition Services Assistant I incumbents do not drive in the course of their assigned activities.

Unit: CSEA Current Vacancies: 1 (3.5-hour position) Hours/Work Year: 1.5 to 3.5 hours day / 10 Mos. (180 Days – Student Days Only) CSEA Hourly Range 113: Step A $20.97, Step B $22.03, Step C $23.15, Step D $24.32, Step E $25.55, Step F $26.85 Promotional/Open * The promotional group as well as the public may apply. The promotional side of the eligibility list shall take precedence when certifying eligibles. APPLICATION DEADLINE: THURSDAY, JULY 17, 2025 by 4:30 P.M. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: All offers of employment are conditional upon the applicant’s satisfactory results of the Pre-Placement Evaluation Program (PEP) strength test.
SELECTION & EXAMINATION: The selection process will consist of an application screening for completeness and qualifications, a written exam (weighted 40%) and an oral panel interview exam (weighted 60%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on the exams to be placed on the eligibility list. Final selection will be made from the three highest accepting ranks off the eligibility list.
