Job Summary
The Math Instructional Coach is a key figure in improving the teaching and learning of mathematics for all students and teachers. The Math Instructional Coach operates in the same capacity as other instructional coaches, but with a greater focus on mathematics.
Requirements / Qualifications
Valid California teaching credential, valid California driver's license, and verifiable classroom teaching experience at the highly effective or skillful performance level are required. Master's degree is desirable.

The Math Instructional Coach builds teacher capacity and understanding of instructional practices as related to the norms and expectations of the adopted curriculum, data-driven instruction, differentiated instruction, class culture and climate, and the needs of English learners and students with special needs. He or she models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, the use of best professional and instructional practices as well as the tenets and best practices embedded within ABLE’s schoolwide improvement initiatives: the use of Instructional Norms, Professional Learning Communities (PLC), Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and WIN (What I Need) Time. The Math Instructional Coach works collaboratively as part of a team, provides guidance and structure, and focuses on strengths, collaboration, and common challenges. Math Instructional Coaches use multiple data collection tools and protocols that guide teachers to reflect on practice and monitor progress towards professional goals for instructional improvement. The Math Instructional Coach strives to ensure high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning/co-teaching, and providing feedback to teachers.
