About the Employer

Welcome to Griffin Technology Academies! Griffin Technology Academies is located in one of the most affordable areas to live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are less than 35 miles from downtown San Francisco and thirteen miles away from Napa Valley. The city is filled with open spaces, cultural events, new and old businesses, and most importantly, a sense of community. Griffin Technology Academies (GTA Schools) is a network of 4 charter schools in Vallejo, California, that focuses on providing students with a high-quality education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. The first GTA charter, Mare Island Technology Academy Middle and High Schools, was founded in 2001, later adding Griffin Academy Middle and High Schools in 2018. GTA Schools serve students in grades 6-12. Griffin Technology Academies offer a variety of programs and services designed to support students in achieving academic success. These include: small class sizes, personalized instruction, extracurricular activities, and enrichment opportunities like burgeoning athletic programs, before and after school care programs, early college (dual enrollment, articulation, concurrent enrollment), AVID, and CTE courses. The schools also provide students with access to technology resources, including laptops and tablets. Students in High School have the opportunity for community service and internships overseen by our Work-Based Learning Coordinator (WBL). What makes our schools special is the partnership between families, community, and educators - each committed to preparing students to become active and responsible citizens in a diverse society by engaging students in a challenging curriculum that provides a solid foundation of academic skills in a safe learning environment. We invite you to come learn with us. GTA offers Full Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life), participation in California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS), Union Representation, and very competitive salaries.

Who we are: Griffin Technology Academies is a family of 4 exceptional charter middle and high schools dedicated to helping every one of our diverse, primarily low-income students make transformative growth in academic achievement, self-understanding and management, career preparation, and active citizenship. Founded in 1999, GTA schools now serve 1,250 students and have proven that all students can excel, given high expectations and high levels of support in an inclusive and equitable environment. With charters based on high expectations and applied research, our newest middle and high schools (Griffin Academy) feature blended learning, using the Summit Learning model with an emphasis on technology. The early college high school, scheduled to open August 2020, is designed to deliver a high school diploma and (free) AA degree in 4 years. Our legacy middle and high schools (MIT Academy) are more traditional and employ standards-based grading, significant dual-enrollment, and an extensive Response To Intervention (RTI) program. Results. A mission-driven organization delivers results. Our students enter 6th grade ~2 years behind in math and ELA…and graduate 7 years later with 92% accepted at 4-year colleges and 100% completing UC/CSU a-g requirements, 9 units of college coursework, 2+ advanced technology courses, an internship, and 140 hours of community service! We have a 92% cohort graduation rate, 96% CTE pathway completion rate (with 78% professional certification), and a 96% attendance rate. Honors/awards. MIT Academy high school, opened in 2002, was been named multiple times as a CDE Distinguished or Gold Ribbon School, as well as a CTE Exemplary School and Title I Achieving School. Every year since 2015, the school has been cited by U.S. News & World Report as “One of America’s Best High Schools.” Last year MIT Academy was inducted into the National Charter School Honor Roll, and most recently, the College Board recognized the school with the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for closing the gender gap. Mare Island Technology Academy middle school has also been named a Distinguished School, CTE Exemplary School, and Title I Achieving School. And in 2018, the school was named a national “School to Watch.” Notes: -Interviews may be held via GoogleMeet, Zoom, or other online meeting tools as appropriate
