Description The Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Department has one full-time, 10-month Central Office Resource Teacher position available to support the Magnifying Media Arts initiative funded by the 2023 Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) federal grant. This role supports three SDUSD magnet schools—Oak Park Music and Media Arts, Roosevelt IB & Media Arts, and Montgomery STEAM/Media Arts—in advancing inquiry-based curriculum and interdisciplinary media arts instruction. The ideal candidate will be equity-driven and bring both pedagogical depth and creative confidence to the development of media arts-integrated learning environments that lift the individual magnet themes across elementary and middle school settings.

Examples of Duties The MSAP Central Office Resource Teacher will work closely with the VAPA Director, MSAP Administrator, and MSAP Grant Project Manager, MSAP site principals, site magnet resource teachers, classroom teachers, VAPA Resource Teachers, Partnerships, as well as classified support staff.

The MSAP Central Office Resource Teacher will: • Coordinate and lead professional learning rooted in inquiry-based, culturally responsive, and interdisciplinary media arts pedagogy • Collaborate with school-based site teams to develop, revise, and implement project-based learning units tied to both California Arts Standards and UN Sustainable Development Goals, including support with pacing, technology, and standards alignment • Serve as an instructional coach for teachers exploring new tools and methods (e.g., green screens, podcasting, digital storytelling, 3D design, and makerspace integration) • Support the development of student-centered exhibitions, performances, and public-facing projects that amplify student voice • Assist in the design and coordination of community partnerships, artist residencies, and family engagement events • Ensure compliance with federal grant requirements, including documentation, reflection, and data collection • Work with VAPA leadership and the MSAP project manager to align goals across departments and maintain strong site-based relationships
