Job Summary
Under the immediate supervision of the site administrator and general direction of the Director of Special Education, and as a member of the school staff, shall provide an educational program for students eligible for special education in Kindergarten - grade 8 and assist in other school programs as assigned. Shall work with other District employees and parents in creating an overall school environment conducive to learning for the students in the District.
Requirements / Qualifications
Santee School District has anticipated FULL-TIME openings for a Specialized Academic Instructor (SAI) to teach students (K-8) with mild to moderate disabilities. The SAI may be responsible for teaching students in Kindergarten through 8th grade and will provide special education support in all academic subjects. Additionally, this individual will support other special education staff on site (e.g., SDC teachers) and may co-teach with them. The SAI may also provide early intervention assistance to general education students struggling with academics and/or behavior through the Response to Intervention (RtI) model. This individual must possess a clear understanding of special education regulations and guidelines. The successful candidate will work closely with parents, staff, and administration for the success of all students. Must have an Autism Authorization.
