Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the Coordinator directs, manages, supervises, plans, and oversees activities and operations in their assigned department as directed; may supervise direct reports; and provides responsible and complex administrative support to the assigned supervisor. Assistants in the administrator and supervisor of the transportation program and staff; plans bus routes, stops and schedules; coordinates transportation services for field trips, athletic events; dispatches drivers; evaluates assigned staff; prepares a variety of payroll and miscellaneous reports.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a school bus driver, driving instructor, office manager of transportation services, or a related field, including two years of supervisory experience. Required Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing: • Valid California Driver’s License (Class B or higher) • Valid Minimum Liability Car Insurance • Passenger/School Bus Driver Endorsement (or ability to obtain within 6 months) • Valid School Bus Driver Certificate (or ability to obtain within 6 months) • Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate • TB Test Clearance • Current First Aid Certificate acceptable to CA Highway Patrol (ability to obtain within 6 months of employment) • Air Brake Endorsement • Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance • COVID-19 Vaccination Status All District employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Successful applicants for this position will be required to submit proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or request an exemption for qualifying medical or religious reasons during the onboarding process. Applicants should not present proof of vaccination until directed to do so by the District’s Human Resources Office.

Coachella Valley Unified School District is located is located about 30 miles east of Palm Springs off Highway 86. The valley connects with the Greater Los Angeles area to the west via the San Gorgonio Pass, a major transportation corridor that includes I-10 and the Union Pacific Railroad. The valley is part of the 13th-largest metropolitan area in the United States, the Inland Empire metropolitan area. The famous desert resort cities of Palm Springs and Palm Desert lie in the Coachella Valley. The Coachella Valley is the second largest sub-region in the Inland Empire, after the Greater San Bernardino Area which may be due to the number of seasonal residents in the winter months which at peak times may surpass 100,000 with another 3.5 million annual conventioneers and tourists.
