Los Medanos College is seeking an inspiring, organized, and competitive Head Baseball Coach to lead a dynamic, student-centered program. This individual will be responsible for the overall direction, recruitment, coaching, and development of the baseball team in alignment with LMC's mission, values, and standards for academic and athletic excellence.

The coach will cultivate a positive and inclusive team culture that fosters personal growth, leadership, and academic achievement-while competing at the highest level within the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coaching & Program Leadership

• Plan, organize, and conduct all practices, competitions, and team activities.

• Teach fundamental and advanced baseball techniques, game strategies, and sportsmanship.

• Foster a safe, disciplined, and inclusive team environment.

Recruitment & Retention

• Actively recruit and retain student-athletes who demonstrate the potential to succeed academically and athletically.

• Build and maintain relationships with local high school and club coaches.

• Collaborate with admissions and counseling staff to support student-athlete success.

Academic Support & Compliance

• Monitor student-athlete academic progress; support timely completion of educational goals.

• Ensure compliance with 3C2A, LMC, and district policies and procedures.

• Maintain accurate records for eligibility, rosters, and program reporting.

Administrative Duties

• Manage the program budget in coordination with the Athletic Director.

• Coordinate team travel, game scheduling, and facility use.

• Promote the program within the college and local community.

• Supervise assistant coaches and support staff as needed.

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:

Any bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Previous Head or Assistant Coach experience in coaching baseball at the community college, college or university level.

• Knowledge of and experience working in recruiting area and a demonstrated ability to recruit student athletes for intercollegiate level competition.

• Experience with and knowledge of diverse learning styles and a variety of academic goals.

• Experience with preparing student-athletes to transition to an intercollegiate and/or elite level with the academic and athletic skills for success.

• Knowledge California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) rules and regulations.

• Experience with conflict resolution within a team setting.
