The District is looking for part time and substitute Bus Drivers. District will train if you aren't currently licensed.

Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   
1. Inspect bus prior to operation for safety purposes. (e.g. brake systems, tire pressure, safety equipment, etc.) Check water, oil and fuel, and report any mechanical defects in writing. 2. Fuel bus as needed. 3. Drive a bus over designated routes in a safe, legal, and prudent manner in accordance with time schedules. 4. Transport students, chaperones, and District personnel on field trips to various locations. 5. Maintain order among students for the purpose of providing safety, discipline, comfort and reassurance, following established District policies and regulations. 6. Maintain required records, (e.g. daily log, mileage sheets, work orders, accident reports, etc.) 7. Check bus passes and collects tickets on home-to-school and school-to-home routes. 8. Operate a two-way radio for the purpose of communicating with school offices, home base, and/or other drivers. 9. Install snow chains as needed. 10. Participate in individualized education planning and provide appropriate accommodations for special needs students, as required. 11. Performs related work as assigned. Required Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Possess a valid Class A or B California commercial driver’s license with airbrake endorsement, school bus driver’s certificate, and federal S endorsement. 3. Possess and renew medical certificate, as required by law. 4. Possess and renew first aid certification, as required by law. 5. Minimum twenty-one years old. 6. Minimum five years of experience as a licensed motor vehicle operator. 7. Knowledge and skills to safely use tools or equipment to perform assigned tasks. 8. Prior record of safe driving experience. 9. Ability to interact with children to maintain a safe environment. 10. TB test clearance. 11. Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance. Desired Qualifications: 1. Valid certification in C.P.R. Abilities: Sit for prolonged periods, understand and carry out written and oral instructions, adhere to safe work practices, work with attention to detail, work independently and with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality of student records, adjust to flexible assignments often with short notice, make common sense decisions in potentially critical situations, read/interpret/apply rules and regulations. Significant physical abilities: Climbing, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, kneeling, fingering, handling, near/far visual acuity with physical accommodation, depth perception, speaking, hearing, communicating. Salary: According to the Classified Employees' Salary Schedule Benefits: In accordance with Board adopted policies, classified contract, and as provided for in the Education Code. Service Requirements: 1. Daily: As bid according to classified contract. 2. Yearly: Ten months service
