Job Summary

The Director/Principal holds the educational vision for Alameda County Office of Education’s (ACOE) Community Schools, including programs designed for expelled, foster youth, and probation referred students. We are looking for an educational leader who possesses a deep commitment to underserved students; a creative vision for multi-systems collaborative change; and a track record of making a difference in shaping long-term outcomes for our most vulnerable students. Under the supervision of the Chief of Schools, the Director/Principal provides instructional, programmatic, and administrative leadership for the ACOE's Community School programs. A county community school combines many of the best features of independent study, personalized learning, counseling-enriched classrooms, and systems of support Our dedication to equity-focused, student-centered, and data-informed practices aligns with our commitment to cultivating an inclusive learning environment where interpersonal relationships and community engagement are integral to the educational success and experience of our students. The Director/Principal engages in continuous school design and improvement to ensure community schools meet the unique needs of county alternative education students. Valid Clear California Teaching Credential (required) Valid Administrative Credential or a Certificate of Eligibility (required) Bachelor Degree (required) Masters Degree (preferred) Have a minimum of five years of experience working with adolescents in an alternative school setting or serving vulnerable populations. Have experience and a commitment to meeting the needs of all students, including students with significant learning gaps and special education needs. Please submit: A letter of interest.
