Job Description
TITLE: Campus Supervisor
DESCRIPTION: Under the general supervision of the school principal and/or the designated site administrator, work within the framework of standard district and school policies and procedures to perform a variety of supervisorial assignments of students and visitors on school grounds in order to maintain order and positive behavior.
REPORTS TO: Principal
EVALUATED BY: Principal
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Patrol the general area including parking lots, playgrounds, hallways, athletic fields, cafeteria, restrooms and in and around buildings before and after school, during breaks and lunch and during class hours.
Monitor for the safety and proper conduct of students as defined in school policy.
Supervise the loading and unloading of school buses before and after school and for field trips.
Maintain an awareness of all vehicles arriving to and leaving from campus and ensure safe driving conditions in school parking lots.
Intervene in rough play and dangerous activities and report related problems, unsafe situations or conditions or violations of school rules to appropriate personnel.
Monitor the hallways during class time; check students for proper hall passes and check students leaving campus for permission to leave slips.
Ensure that students receive first aid when needed and report injuries to appropriate personnel.
Ensure that site visitors report to the office for passes, issue passes when appropriate and report unauthorized persons to the administration.
Monitor the cafeteria and other eating areas during lunch and encourage students to maintain a clean and litter free area.
Assist students with locker problems, perform minor locker maintenance and assist in student locker assignment at the beginning of the school year.
Proactively encourage good sportsmanship in games and good citizenship among students in all school activities and model appropriate adult behavior.
Monitor after-school detention.
Maintain computer records of student detentions, report records of served and unserved detentions to site administration and assign attendance or disciplinary detentions under administrative direction.
Assist the custodian as directed by the principal or designated site administrator.
Maintain regular attendance.
Work cooperatively with others.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience, which would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed herein; completion of the twelfth grade or the equivalent. Experience in working with middle school age students.
Abilities: Ability to work with adults and students in maintaining a positive school environment; understand and follow oral and written instructions; understand and enforce school procedures and policies; administer basic first aid; engage in strenuous physical activity; develop and maintain positive cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. Bilingualism desired.
Physical Effort/Work Environment: Strenuous activity with frequent standing and walking; an indoor/outdoor work environment in all weather extremes.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
A pre-placement physical examination may be required.
Possession of a valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage that conforms to California state law.
Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate.
Evidence of a negative TB test every four years.
Passing of a pre-employment basic skills test.
SALARY RANGE:
Range 19 on the Classified Unit Salary Schedule
