K-12 ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS SPECIALIST

 

THE POSITION

 

Under the guidance of Educational Support Services and the general supervision of ESS Directors, provides support to the English Language Arts instructional programs, K-12. 

 

RESPONSIBLE TO:

 

  • Educational Support Services Directors

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

 

The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive:

 

  • Facilitate the evaluation and revision of English Language Arts curriculum units, lessons, pacing guides, and assessments with District teachers, LCAP Specialists, and teacher leaders. 
  • Ensure the development and communication of a guaranteed and viable English Language Arts curriculum, K-12.
  • Facilitate the inclusion of technology into lessons and assessments.
  • Plan and deliver related staff development.
  • Develop strategic and targeted direct instruction lessons to support teachers.
  • Facilitate frequent progress monitoring of students at all sites.
  • Participate in the development, administration, scoring, and on-line reporting of ELA assessments.
  • Provide various forms of support and training related to job duties.
  • Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities.
  • Participate in all job-related activities such as faculty meetings, in-services, committees, etc.

 

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE

 

  • Valid California teaching credential in single subject English, or

          Valid California teaching credential in other single subject area, with added supplemental or subject matter authorization in English, or

          Valid California teaching credential in multiple subject, with added supplemental or subject matter authorization in English.

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Essential Components of Instruction and District focused components in lessons.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of New State Standards and instructional shifts.
  • Knowledge of TVUSD’s adopted resources.
  • Three or more years of full time teaching experience.
  • Significant education and experience in the instruction of English Language Arts strategies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current research in effective English Language Arts practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the K-12 English Language Arts standards and Instructional Shifts.
  • Significant and successful experiences delivering professional development.
  • Preferred training and background may include Reading Specialist Certificate/Credential, Reading Recovery training and/or other related literacy training, Bilingual certificate/credential or training, and technology certificate/credential or training.

 

 

WORK YEAR:                     184 Days

 

SALARY:                              Certificated Salary Schedule “A”
