Job Summary

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable 7th & 8th Grade Math Teacher to join our dynamic middle school team. The ideal candidate will foster a love for mathematics, demonstrate instructional excellence, and differentiate learning to support the diverse needs of our students. This teacher will play a vital role in helping students build foundational and advanced math skills in preparation for high school and beyond. Key Responsibilities: Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned math instruction based on the California Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including English Learners, students with IEPs/504s, and high-achieving students. Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress. Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that promotes student voice, collaboration, and academic risk-taking. Collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff to support student growth and school-wide goals. Participate in professional development, grade-level meetings, and school events. Integrate instructional technology and real-world applications to enhance mathematical thinking. Maintain accurate records, including grades, attendance, and student progress reports. Uphold school-wide expectations, PBIS practices, and restorative approaches to discipline. Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of experience teaching math at the middle school level. Familiarity with project-based learning, blended learning, or other innovative instructional models.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Hold a valid California Single Subject Credential in Mathematics OR a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with demonstrated subject-matter competence in mathematics (e.g., subject matter authorization or supplementary authorization in mathematics). English Learner Authorization (CLAD or equivalent). Knowledge of and experience with California Common Core Math Standards. Strong classroom management and instructional skills. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.

Valid California Single Subject Math Credential Evidence of TB clearance Resume Three Letters of Recommendation dated within last 3 months Transcripts

Applicants to teach in our program will be evaluated based on the following qualifications: • Single subject Math credential, Algebra or above. • Demonstrated expertise in the subject areas and the ability to communicate the appropriate knowledge to each student. • Possession of a Cross-cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD) credential. • Knowledge and experience with standards-based instruction: ability to align curriculum and standards and willingness to adopt grading practices that can be used in standards-based grading. • Knowledge of assessment strategies and the ability to use data to drive their teaching and ensure continuous improvement of student learning. • Ability to effectively use a broad range of instructional strategies, including providing a guaranteed curriculum, challenging goals and effective feedback, differentiated instruction, and back mapping, among others. • Demonstrated competence using advanced technology as a learning tool: willing and able to integrate technology into teaching and student learning. • Outstanding classroom management skills. • Willingness to work as a vital part of the JLPAA team to ensure continuous improvement for students, staff and JLPAA community as a whole. • Willingness and ability to work with students and parents on an ongoing basis to ensure student success. • Love of students, enthusiasm for teaching, the belief that each student can and will succeed, and the willingness to do what it takes to make that happen. • Desire and ability to engage in continuing education, staff development, and skill upgrading. • Positive references from most recent employment and/or college or graduate school.
