Job Summary
Under the direction of the Personnel Commission Director, perform a wide variety of highly specialized clerical tasks in the recruitment, selection, and in-processing of classified personnel; support the Personnel Commission in financial, procedural, and administrative tasks as it relates to the Merit System; respond to staff questions and concerns.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and four years of increasingly responsible clerical or office-related experience. A two-year college degree may be substituted for two years of clerical or office-related experience if two years of office-related experience have already been completed.
Human Resources Specialist Knowledge of: - Human resources office functions, practices and procedures. - Practices and procedures related to classified and certificated personnel. - Principles, techniques, procedures and terminology involved in the recruitment, screening, selection, classification and processing of new personnel. - Human Resource office functions, practices and procedures. - District office operations, policies and objectives. - Applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations. - Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. - Telephone techniques and etiquette. - Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. - Operation of a computer and assigned software. - Oral and written communication skills. - Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. - Basic math. - Business letter writing techniques. - Record-keeping techniques.
