Job Summary

The Grounds Maintenance Worker II performs the full range of general and varied grounds maintenance and gardening duties at District sites. The Grounds Worker II may oversee the activities of a grounds crew in the absence of a Lead Grounds Maintenance Worker.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Journey-level experience in grounds maintenance, preferably in a school, industrial, or commercial setting where knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in grounds maintenance has been acquired. Experience operating equipment and tools in grounds maintenance. Experience performing sports field lining preferred. Job-related education necessary to perform the essential job duties is typically consistent with graduation from high school or equivalent. Valid California driver license. Examination process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examinations: Multiple choice exam (weighted at 30%) and Qualifications Appraisal Interview (weighted at 70%) The competitive basis for this recruitment is established as open/promotional dual certification. The eligibility lists established by this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies for six months. The job posting remains open until filled. If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Prior to the application deadline, a request to transfer score(s) should be e-mailed to: barbara.bass@sduhsd.net. Transferring of exam scores does not apply to the Qualifications Appraisal Interview. Veterans may be eligible for preference points on entrance examinations. Entrance is defined as candidates who are not current employees of the District.
