Job Summary

The Huntington Beach Adult School is looking for a 30hrs a week instructor to teach Culinary Arts. Candidates need to have a minimum of five years of work experience. Appropriate CTE credentials are preferred but not required to apply. Responsibilities: • Present and facilitate well-prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus and school policies. • Continually promote students' development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation, problem-solving, and decision-making. • Culinary arts instructors are responsible for educating students in various cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen management. Their duties typically include: • Demonstrate and teach various cooking methods, food preparation, and presentation skills. • Develop lesson plans and curricula that align with industry standards and educational goals. • Provide practical training in kitchen settings, ensuring students gain hands-on experience. • Evaluate student progress through practical assessments, projects, and exams. • Prepare students for careers in culinary arts, catering, and hospitality by familiarizing them with industry practices and expectations. JOB SKILLS • Must be proficient with the use of computers to enter grades and attendance electronically • Must be able to develop and maintain excellent relationships with a diverse staff, student population, and employer partners • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced school environment • Consistently demonstrate the highest levels of integrity

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum five years of work experience in a professional culinary role. Preferred: Adult Education CTE teaching credential, CPR, First Aid, and AED training, 3 years of adult education teaching experience.
