ALSD File: 703.01-E Adopted: April 21, 1986 Amended: May 20, 1998 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Psychologist Job Purpose Statement/s: Under the direction of the Director of Pupil Services to assess students; provide information for program development and student placement; provide behavior plans; improve students’ performance; provide information on child development and/or specific students to instructional personnel and to do other related functions as directed. Essential Job Functions: • Evaluates students, family, school environment for the purpose of providing information for program development and proper placement. • Serves as a resource for IEP meetings, Student Study Team meetings, and parent conferences. • Conducts in-services, as appropriate. • Observes students/classrooms for the purpose of planning and implementing a supportive educational environment. • Counsels parents, students and/or school staff, for the purpose of improving students’ performance and/or interpersonal relationships. • Acts as a Behavior Intervention Case Manager (BICM) and facilitates the development of behavior intervention plans. • Records information, e.g. assessments, evaluations, reports, observations, contacts with parents, teachers, professionals, agencies for the purpose of protecting the District from legal actions, documenting activities, ensuring continuity of service. • Researches information e.g. referrals, attendance patterns, program intervention techniques and specialized treatment for the purpose of identifying information and making recommendations benefiting students. • Consults with staff, teachers, parents, agencies for the purpose of providing information on child development and/or specific students. • Consults with county schools staff for the purpose of transitioning students to and from county class placements. • Interacts with outside professionals, parents, staff, students, agencies for the purpose of receiving and/or communicating information. • Assists school administrative staff, students and parents for the purpose of providing crisis intervention i.e. counseling, support, referrals to appropriate agencies, etc. • Maintains currency with regard to the foregoing job functions. • Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements - Qualifications: • Experience Required: Successful prior job related experience; successful experience in working with various personalities; successful classroom teaching experience in both regular and special education classes preferred. • Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Skills in application of assessment instruments, crisis intervention and counseling, interpretation of test data. Knowledge of assessment instruments and their application, relevant education codes, state and district policies, and federal law. Abilities to complete a case study and develop an individual education plan; be flexible, work under time constraints, work effectively with staff, parents, students and community; work with teachers on instructional strategies and methodologies for at-risk students. Significant physical abilities include sitting for prolonged periods, lifting/carrying, reaching/handling/fingering/feeling, talking/hearing, near and far visual acuity/visual accommodation. • Education: Master’s Degree • Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Possession of valid California Pupil Personnel Services credential required; Valid California driver’s license and evidence of insurability; Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.

Please note that this position is currently funded for two years, with the possibility to renew funding. We are one of four elementary (TK-8) school districts in the City of Rancho Cucamonga. We have 10 schools: 8 elementary (TK-5) and 2 junior high (6-8) schools with enrollment number of 5,500 students. If selected, required fingerprint verification at an approximate cost of $47 to the employee, proof of TB clearance (within 4 years) at employee’s cost or a "Certificate of Completion" signed by a licensed health care provider for the Adult TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire and a Certificate of Completion for the CA Mandated Reporter Training.
