Job Summary
Under supervision and general direction of the Superintendent or designee. Safely expedite the movement of children to and from school by creating gaps in traffic, not to exercise regulatory and enforcement powers. Carefully and with sound judgment control and direct elementary school children in crossing streets at designated crossings and at designated times; to assist children traveling to and from school. Being alert to traffic and children at all times while on duty. Performs all crossing guard duties required. This position is located at 6th & Kern Street in Taft, CA.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education: • Graduation from 12th grade or equivalent. • Qualified to provide first aid and CPR. (May obtain qualification while employed during probationary period.) • Possession of an appropriate, valid California drivers license. • Knowledge of: a. Crossing guard practices and procedures desired. b. Local traffic regulations Experience: • Previous crossing guard experience desirable. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice as well as a physical clearance are conditions of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
