Job Summary

We are seeking a creative and tech-savvy MultiMedia Art Teacher to lead a part-time program that blends traditional Visual Arts with Digital Media and design. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about empowering middle school students through artistic expression, visual storytelling, and digital literacy. Students in this course explore foundational art concepts while experimenting with modern tools, including graphic design software, digital imaging, and animation. This is a part-time, credentialed teaching position. Key Responsibilities: • Plan and deliver engaging instruction that integrates traditional art techniques (drawing, painting, composition) with digital tools and multimedia applications. • Teach foundational concepts such as color theory, visual communication, perspective, and design principles. • Guide students in using various platforms and tools, including but not limited to: graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express), animation tools, and photo editing applications. • Develop project-based learning experiences that encourage students to combine various media to tell stories and create portfolio-quality work. • Foster a creative, inclusive, and safe studio-classroom environment that supports experimentation and self-expression. • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Learners and students with special needs. • Encourage students to showcase their work through digital portfolios, school exhibitions, or collaborative displays. • Collaborate with VAPA team, staff and administration to align with schoolwide themes, events, and student engagement initiatives. • Maintain records of student progress, participation, and project completion. Position Details: • Part-Time • Grades: 7th–8th • Work Year: 2025–2026 School Year • Salary: Based on credentialed teacher salary schedule, prorated for part-time status

Requirements / Qualifications

Qualifications: • Valid California Single Subject Credential in Art or appropriate CTE Credential in Arts, Media & Entertainment • Experience in both traditional Visual Arts and Digital Media instruction preferred • Strong classroom management and communication skills • Proficiency with digital design and editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, iMovie, animation software) • Ability to inspire creative thinking and artistic growth in middle school learners Preferred Skills and Experience: • Experience with multimedia storytelling, stop-motion, or digital animation • Familiarity with project-based learning and cross-curricular art integration • Experience facilitating student exhibitions or contributing to schoolwide media projects (e.g., yearbook, digital displays, newsletters) • Culturally responsive teaching practices
