MARKETING, COMMUNICATION, AND INNOVATION OFFICER THE POSITION The Marketing, Innovation, and Communication Officer will perform professional-level public relations work in support of the District’s public information and community outreach strategies. They should have experience in the classroom setting, as well as site administration and be familiar with a variety of educational tools and instructional practices that are best employed in a classroom setting. This individual will also be tasked with being a primary component in the implementation of the district’s vision with innovation, 21st century learning, and media usage, not only helping to ensure students and staff are amenable to the initiatives, but communicating its value and impact with the community and Governing Board. The Officer will also help develop connections with the community to generate real-world opportunities that integrate school learning. RESPONSIBLE TO: Superintendent EXAMPLES OF DUTIES The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Plans, develops, and implements public relations strategies and activities. • Designs and implements communication strategies that maximize community and stakeholder engagement. • Manages content of District communication tools, including websites, press releases, photo opportunities, announcements to the community, public access television, social media, and telephone messaging, including District photography and video production. • Plans, manages, and publicizes District sponsored community and other events including special programs, tours, press conferences, exhibitions, etc. • Plans and participates in forums related to innovation and technology integration that are meant for staff and/or community stakeholders. • Incorporates innovative technology, timely and relevant professional development for teachers, staff, and administration. • Creates training tools, like videos, tutorials, and media to foster the most current instructional practices in our classrooms. • Provides assistance to administration in being able to identify and model best practices associated with the District’s vision that includes, but is not limited to, a variety of educational resource tools that can further student engagement in a formative setting, the district-wide use of a learning management system, and accessing and navigating through a data and assessment warehouse. • Manages staff/student media teams, teaches media, and gives hands-on opportunities to create video, graphics, and social media content for students. • Interacts with the IMS Department regarding access to appropriate resources for students and staff. • Meets regularly with teachers and administrators to plan and implement instructional strategies that integrate best teaching practices into classroom instruction and support differentiated learning. • Plans and presents professional development seminars for teachers, support staff, and administrators, as needed. • Assists the District in determining the current level of technology integration at every grade level across all curricular areas and school sites. EXPERIENCE / SPECIAL SKILLS • Minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience or working with classroom teachers in an instructional framework. • Familiarity with Google Apps for Education, social media platforms, and related instructional products and their impact on the classroom. • Have a broad understanding of learning platforms and 21st century instructional practices. • Familiar with video editing software (e.g., Final Cut Pro). QUALIFICATIONS AND DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS • Professional teacher’s credential with Administrative Services Credential • Experience working in a similar position in public education is strongly preferred • Experience in developing and presenting on facets of the District’s instructional vision • Google and/or Apple certified • A leadership style that models high personal and professional standards, ethics, and dedication to excellence • Proven skills in fostering a team culture and collaborative decision making • Articulate communicator with strong interpersonal skills • Proven ability to attend to details while overseeing multiple tasks and deadlines • Extensive knowledge of effective personnel practices • Experience with data-driven improvement planning and intervention • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction and the use of differentiation • Knowledge of social media platforms and effective usage in a school setting • Ability to develop graphics for flyers, events, and websites and experience with video editing through the Adobe suite OTHER DUTIES Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
