Job Summary

Provide direct instruction to students under expulsion orders and SARB contracts at the Learning Support Campus in collaboration with other teaching staff. Provide direct instruction to homebound students in the home or other designated location. Plan, implement, monitor and assess an instructional program for students in need of intervention services (consistent with District standards and benchmarks). Diagnose curricular weaknesses through interim assessment. Assess student skills and assist staff with analyzing and interpreting related data. Assist with identifying the appropriate interventions for students. Provide professional development and instructional support concerning research and teaching techniques. Demonstrate the application of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession in delivering instruction to students. Collaborate with site administrators, program personnel, students and parents to enhance instructional programs so they support individual student needs. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress observed, needs or problems and special accomplishments. Develop and communicate curricular and instructional plans and objectives to students and parents including course descriptions, performance expectations and other pertinent information to allow parental monitoring; review with the Administrator as necessary. Assist with instruction to students with special needs in accordance with IEP utilizing support services as appropriate/participate in IEP meetings representing Learning Support/Alternative Programs. Maintain records regarding student progress including special education students in accordance with site and district policy. Coordinate with District staff in aligning Learning Support curriculum/PLP with District-approved curriculum and pacing guides. Develop lesson plans in accordance with District curriculum.
